Ultimaker Upgrade (Part 1: The Plan)
This has been on my to do list since I first got the printer…
The ultimaker 2 (and 2+) were originally designed to be dual nozzle printers.
This means the board has an extra Heater, temperature sensor and extruder motor output. So the parts required are:
- PT100 Thermocouple
- 25W Heater cartridge (I was worried about total power drawn)
- Nozzle and Hotend Assembly
- PTFE tubing
- Some for of extruder
- A motor to drive it
I bought an import hotend assembly but splashed out for a titan mirrored extruder as that’s what currently drives my primary nozzle. Total cost: about £100.
