Dishwasher Wheels
We have a dishwasher…but it’s a bit rubbish.
Besides many other issues the biggest annoyance is that the wheels the carriages ride on constantly fall off. So lets fix that.
The design of the part is simple and I actually took it as an opportunity for my partner to try her hand at CAD. We undersized the holed slightly to give a tighter fit of course. Design sorted it was time to print it.
The parts were originally printed in a clear PLA I had already loaded into the printer. The were pretty tight to fit on (Which wa exactly the point right) and seemed to work pretty well.
After their first cycle the hot water appeared to temper the parts giving them a frosted look… and a whole lot of deformation.
I had expected this from PLA but I was initially too lazy to swap out the material. So the second time I printed in ASA, a material very similar to ABS that is able to withstand much higher temperatures. So far so good, time to print about 10 more.
